I just took one of the worst bad beats I can remember. It was so sick that I lost faith in poker. But then again, I felt that it was coming. You’ll see:

- Notes: I suffered a bad beat against Skip: Ace High Straight vs a Flush (explained below)_
Before I get to the bad beat story, I also want to mention that I crippled Mr. 2nd place of the Regional Championship out of a bluff. Skip eliminated him as well.
I swear, Skip is a calling station. But he was also a former casino dealer and he runs private tournaments. He knows what he was doing.
But when Skip and I got into a big hand, it got really ugly. Here’s a diagram of the hands we had:
Skip: 7♠ 8♠
Flop: A♠ 10♣ 9♠ | Turn: J♣ | River: 4♠
Me: Q♦ K♦
At the turn: I had A♠ K♦ Q♦ J♣ 10♣
At the turn: Skip had: J♣ 10♣ 9♠ 8♠ 7♠
Skip went
ALL-IN. I hesitated to call there for a moment, explaining that Skip had too many outs, including a flush draw. At that point, he knew I wasn’t able to chase a flush, even if I had a straight. But too late, he was already
ALL-IN. I called!!!
We flipped the cards, and he said “I have a straight!”
I said “So do I!” with a cocky claim that I had him.
I dealt all these cards, but I didn’t deal the river-card…. 4♠
The River came out, I still had my Ace high Straight… A♠ K♦ Q♦ J♣ 10♣ (Broadway!)
The River came out, Skip caught a FLUSH, spades: A♠ 9♠ 8♠ 7♠ 4♠
He had me covered. FML!
You couldn’t have folded what I had… No way… I came in with a good hand, and I don’t feel too bad. Besides, I had my run-ins with Skip before, and I pissed him off one time after eliminating him at the same venue. But tonight, it was his turn.
